We, the association Time For young people we wish to publicly support Ghetto Games organisation and its leader Raimonds Elbakjans, who for several years have created a place in Riga, in the vicinity of Grizinkalns, and also elsewhere in Latvia with a visit to Gettins, in order to significantly improve the social situation of children and young people through sports prism.
We, the youth organization, are representing the interests of 295 members from different regions of Latvia, including Grizinkalns neighbourhood. Gettina Ingredientation would be close to tragedy for children and young people, it has already become their daily life and for many of them the most expected event of the week - socialize, forget about the negative and agree sports activities together with peers from all over Latvia.
Gints Jankovskis, manager of the Youth Day, emphasises that work with children/young people has still not fully balanced in the aftermath of the Covid-19 crisis, Gettiņš is doing an excellent job improving the social situation among children/young people. In this way, restricting the positively chargeable can create social problems of different levels, which consequently means a complex problem sea - from psychoemotional to physical. I would like to conclude by pointing out that already at this stage there is no shortage of mentoring in various regions - from alcohol, smoking to drug use, SPORTS and non-formal youth activities are the best and the most basic alternative.
It is perfectly understood that no company, association or private individual would have enjoyed 100% of the company's interests. In this situation, we invite responsible institutions, society and, in particular, the Grizinkalns neighbourhood society, to give priority to children and young people, their opportunity to work actively with different sports and entertainment opportunities. We need to be proud of the possibility of street sports and entertainment at European level for all age categories, rather than seeking different excuses and displeasures.
While it is perfectly human to understand the discomfort of possible excessive noise, there has been a number of reports that Gettiņš has come back, reduced measures, placed containers for limiting sound, including reduced capacity. BET is now on the other side and instead of personal ambitions, we call for priority to be given to the possibility of children and young people to express themselves and spend time at a quality level rather than a specific (x) number of people's dissatisfaction. Grizinkalns is a great place to organize such activities, let's add that members of our organization (4) live in this area and sound is characterized by acceptable - undisturbed. The greater discomfort is to live at the same railway.
We invite the Riga City Council, the Chairman, Vice-Presidents, Members and employees involved to find solutions to this situation as soon as possible, as well as other parties involved to identify possible risks if such a place would be fully restricted in the long term.
