Keyboard navigation
Press Tab to move to the next link or button. Use Shift + Tab to go back. Press Enter to open a link or press a button, and Esc to close menus and dialogs.
The element you are on is highlighted with a frame. The first link on every page is “Skip to content” - it lets you skip the navigation and go straight to the page content.
Text size
You can choose between three text sizes: 100%, 150% and 200%. All text grows while the layout stays easy to follow. The navigation grows too; if it no longer fits on one line, open it with the ☰ menu button.
Browser zoom. In every browser you can zoom in with Ctrl + + and zoom out with Ctrl + - (on a Mac use Cmd). On a phone you can zoom with two fingers.
Device settings. Windows has “Magnifier” (Windows key + “+”). On a Mac: System Settings > Accessibility > Zoom. On iPhone and Android phones you will find text size and zoom under Settings > Accessibility.
Contrast
If text is hard to see, choose a high contrast mode: white text on black, black text on yellow or yellow text on black. Photos stay visible, but the area behind text is darkened so it can be read.
Visual tools
Text magnifier. When the magnifier is on, the text under your mouse pointer appears in a separate box in large letters. On a phone, tap the text and the magnifier shows it for a few seconds.
Reading mask. The mask darkens the whole page except a narrow strip that follows your mouse or finger. It helps you focus on one line at a time and keep your place in the text.
More settings
- Line spacing - more space between lines of text.
- Letter spacing - more space between letters and words.
- Readable font - the Atkinson Hyperlegible font, where similar letters (like I, l and 1) are easy to tell apart.
- Underline links - every link is underlined so it is easy to spot.
- Stop animations - turns off moving effects and automatic slideshows.
Easy to read
The key information about the association, events, volunteering, the learning module and accounts is also available in easy-to-read language, with short sentences and simple words.
Screen readers
A screen reader is a program that reads out what is on the screen or shows it in Braille. The website is built so that images have text descriptions, headings follow a logical order and buttons and form fields have names.

- JAWS - for Windows (freedomscientific.com);
- VoiceOver - built into Mac, iPhone and iPad;
- TalkBack - built into Android phones.
Settings in your account
If you are not signed in, your settings are saved only on this device and browser. If you are signed in, they are saved to your account - when you sign in on another computer or phone, the website will look the same. You can also change them in My account > Settings.
