🎯 The aim of the project is to develop and pilot a model of street-based youth work suitable for the town of Bauska, which will help to reach young people aged between 16 and 30, particularly those with limited opportunities and those who have not previously been actively involved in youth work. It is important for us not just to wait for young people to come to activities of their own accord, but to be closer to their everyday environment and needs.
💪🏻 📜 As part of the project, we will map out the places where young people in Bauska gather, their habits and the barriers to their participation. Based on young people’s experiences, our observations and the insights of our partners, we will develop a practical street outreach methodology to help build safe, respectful and trust-based relationships with young people.
🤝🏻 This approach will then be tested in practice through a regular street outreach pilot scheme, low-threshold conversations and youth-friendly activities promoting participation, awareness and media literacy. Throughout the project, young people will be involved not only as participants, but also as co-authors, providers of feedback and content creators.
🎬 At the end of the project, we plan to produce a short documentary film about the young people’s experiences in Bauska, as well as a field-tested model for street outreach work that can be used in future work with young people. We believe that young people can be reached if they are genuinely seen, listened to and given the opportunity to get involved in a way that is safe and understandable to them.
