On 18 May, the agency will organise an event to present the findings of the study, at which it will outline the main themes of the focus group discussions carried out as part of the ‘Path to Understanding’ project, conclusions and the next steps in the project’s development.
📌 The event will take place on 18 May from 2.00 pm to 3.00 pm at the premises of the association “Laiks Jauniešiem” in Bauska, at 9 Slimnīcas Street.
🔵 The presentation will provide an insight into the research titled “Young People’s Communication Experiences and
needs: results of focus group discussions in the context of developing a digital solution for the ‘Path to Understanding’ project’. The aim of the research is to gain a better understanding of young people’s everyday communication experiences,
situations in which misunderstandings arise, as well as the needs that must be taken into account when creating
a support solution that is understandable and practical to use.
🔵 A total of 193 young people from 7 educational institutions took part in the study. Interviews with the young people were conducted
individually or in small groups, with each participant being asked between 15 and 18 questions about their communication experiences, relationships with peers and adults, situations involving misunderstandings, emotions, support needs and possible solutions. This format enabled us to gather not only general data, but also lively conversations, personal examples and genuine responses drawn from the young people’s everyday experiences.
💡 Unlike the anonymous questionnaire approach, focus group discussions gave young people the opportunity to speak more freely about their feelings, experiences and the situations they encounter at school, at home,
among friends and when communicating with adults. Consequently, the study’s findings are based on the young people’s
own words – real problems, real needs and solutions that can help to provide
more meaningful support for young people.
🎯 The insights gained will help to further develop the project’s digital solution “Do You Understand?”, which aims
is to promote young people’s communication skills, their ability to understand various social situations and to resolve conflicts more confidently.
