The ā€œLaiks JaunieÅ”iemā€ association plans its activities strategically, in accordance with its approved strategic plan.

October 31, 2025

šŸ“¢ We are delighted that, based on our current performance, we are on track to achieve 95 per cent of our strategic targets. We invite our followers – friends, supporters and members – to take a look at our current progress.

1. Organisational sustainability – projects and securing funding from other sources:

āœ…ļø Mentoring – support for young people at social risk, organising and leading informal activities, individual and group sessions (to be implemented in 2024, 2025 and 2026):

šŸ”µ Agreements have been signed with the social services departments of the Bauska and Salaspils local authorities to provide mentoring services to young people aged between 12 and 25;

šŸ”µ Implementation has begun on the three-year Social Integration Fund social innovation project ā€˜The Path to Understanding’, in which we provide mentoring for young people with limited opportunities;

šŸ”µ Two (two-day) training programmes for mentors have been organised, as has planned supervision for staff;

āœ…ļø Young Leaders’ programmes – to organise various leadership programmes for young people, developing their general communication, participation and collaboration skills (to be implemented in 2024, 2025 and 2026):

šŸ”µ A three-day training programme for school student councils organised as part of the Rural Support Service’s project ā€œTime for REGIONAL Youth!ā€;

šŸ”µ As part of the Society Integration Foundation’s project ā€œTogether for Youth Leadership and Well-being!ā€, three leadership academies for young people were organised – in the Valmiera and Bauska districts and in the city of Riga;

šŸ”µ Similarly, in day-to-day informal groups and other organisational activities, there is a significant focus on developing young people’s leadership skills, thereby fostering the growth of new leaders.

āœ…ļø Cooperation with embassies – engaging with embassies to support specific initiatives and the organisation’s activities at local and international level (to be implemented in 2024, 2025 and 2026):

šŸ”µ Cooperation with the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Latvia – a media literacy game for young people was funded and a high-quality dialogue was established;

šŸ”µ Other meetings have also taken place with embassies regarding potential collaboration on organising various activities.

āœ…ļø Social entrepreneurship – to research, identify ideas and initiatives for the development of social entrepreneurship, ensuring the sustainability and continuity of the association’s activities (implementation – in 2025 or 2026):

šŸ”µ Discussions have taken place both ā€˜internally’ within the organisation and with partners regarding a potential change of status; however, no decision – neither positive nor negative – has yet been taken on this matter.

āœ…ļø Fundraising campaigns – contacting private individuals and business owners by telephone, as well as organising events at public venues to collect donations for various causes, either for the organisation or for charitable purposes (to be implemented in 2024, 2025 and 2026):

šŸ”µ The ā€˜TIME FOR ADVENT WREATHS’ fundraising campaign was launched, through which financial donations were raised to purchase a minibus. This year, the aim of the campaign will be to raise funds for organising events for children and young people;

šŸ”µ Donations totalling several thousand were raised to organise various activities.

āœ…ļø Project competitions – ERASMUS+, the Society Integration Fund, the Active Citizens Fund, the European Commission, the Nordic Council Office in Latvia, the Agency for International Youth Programmes, LEADER projects, grants announced by local authorities, grants announced by embassies, the European Youth Fund, etc.; (implementation – in 2024, 2025 and 2026):

šŸ”µ Active participation in project competitions, resulting in 17 approved projects;

šŸ”µ Over €350,000 secured through various project competitions.

āœ…ļø Economic activities – non-formal education, leisure areas for children and young people, photography and video filming/editing, running training courses (to be implemented in 2024, 2025 and 2026):

šŸ”µ Organisation and delivery of training courses – in various local authorities and non-governmental organisations;

šŸ”µ Rental of large-scale games, 360° video spinners and large masks;

šŸ”µ Provision of photography and video services.

āœ…ļø National status – the association ā€œLaiks JaunieÅ”iemā€ has completed all the necessary preparatory steps and will submit an application for recognition as a national organisation (to be implemented in 2024, 2025 and 2026):

šŸ”µ At the end of 2024, national-level youth organisation status was obtained, thereby gaining the opportunity to secure funding from the JSPA – State Programme for a period of two years, amounting to EUR 57,000 in each year.
