Workshops on the elections at the KLT Saulaines branch

January 6, 2025

In preparation 2025. For local elections in 2000, the Youth Initiative has been launched (ERASMUS+ Participation Project) 3.0) aimed at educating and encouraging young voters to participate in this essential democratic process. This initiative includes a series of workshops that will provide young people with the knowledge and skills they need to be confident in their first or second elections.

The first of the workshops will take place at the KLT Saulaines in the department (KLT territorial unit of Saulaine (a) 21 January from 1 p.m. 10.00 - 12.00 and everyone is welcome to attend this event! Other workshops will also take place in the afternoon so that young people who learn and/or work are able to attend the event at their convenience.

The workshops organized by the Youth Time will focus on raising awareness of the electoral process in Latvia. As many young people take part in the elections for the first time, it is important that they have a clear process - from study of candidates to voting. Participants will be informed about electoral system, role of municipalities and democratic principles in Latvia.

In addition to theoretical knowledge, workshops will offer practical advice and simulations to allow young people to test both the voting process and the evaluation of candidates. Such practical exercises will help them feel safer and more confident when the time comes to go to the polling station.

The long-term goal of the Society is to promote an active society of citizens, especially among the younger generation, who often feel alienated from political processes. This initiative is one of the steps to create the conditions in which young people not only participate in elections, but also play a more active role in shaping their communities and the future of their country.
