We have published the fourth video in a series of five on localisation, development cooperation and our experience in Georgia. In this instalment, we explain what localisation is and why it is not simply a matter of translating content into another language.

🙌🏻 Localisation means the ability to understand the local environment, people’s needs, culture, experiences and everyday realities. What works well in Latvia won’t necessarily work in Georgia or another country – and that’s precisely why it’s important to listen, adapt and develop solutions together with local people, rather than simply importing ready-made ideas.

🗣 In the video, we also discuss how the experiences of young people in Latvia differ from those in other countries – in terms of participation, opportunities, challenges and understanding of democracy. This experience helped us to better understand that development cooperation begins with a genuine interest in the other side and a willingness to learn from one another.
