We have taken an important step to promote cooperation between young people in Georgia and Latvia!
The event was held at the Embassy of the Republic of Latvia in Georgia, with the involvement of the Ambassador of Latvia to Georgia, Edīte Medne.
We, Society Time For young people we have long been working with Georgian partner organizations to create this cooperation platform and plan to work on different a form of joint initiatives to strengthen close cooperation between them as provided for in the Declaration. In the declaration, representatives of both countries jointly agree on strengthening the values of the European Union, strengthening democracy, the rule of law and equality.
As an organisation, we stand firm on these values and, given the political situation in Georgia, we see a very important role in building such cooperation to support the Georgian NGO sector in strengthening these values and to provide a platform for mutual cooperation and exchange of experience.
The aim of the bilateral youth cooperation platform between Georgia and Latvia is to promote and strengthen cooperation between youth organisations, youth initiative groups and student councils, as well as active young people from both countries.
The platform will create a space where young people from Georgia and Latvia will have an opportunity for regular dialogue and exchange of experience.
For the first time in history, a joint declaration of youth was adopted in Ceremony, marking the thirty-two years of diplomatic relations between Georgia and Latvia, reflecting the common values, principles and aspirations of young people in Georgia and Latvia. The declaration supports Georgia's euro integration process.
We will invite other Latvian youth organisations or individuals to join and sign the declaration very soon!
