✨️ For support to be truly effective, it must be based not on assumptions, but on evidence – the experiences of young people, their own words and their everyday situations. That is precisely why, as part of the Society Integration Foundation’s project ‘The Path to Understanding’, we are conducting focus group sessions and systematic data collection in educational institutions in the Bauska district.
✅️ We have carried out a further 6 focus groups: 1 at Pilrundāle Secondary School, Vecumnieki Secondary School – 1, Iecava Secondary School – 1, Skaistkalne Secondary School – 2, Bauska State Gymnasium – 1, reaching a total of 101 pupils. These focus groups are a crucial part of the research, enabling us to gain an in-depth understanding of the challenges young people face and the types of support that are most appropriate for them.
🗣 In the discussions, we focus on issues that directly affect young people’s well-being and relationships: family communication and conflicts, social inclusion, learning difficulties, emotional strain and access to support. Focus groups provide young people with the opportunity, in a safe environment, to articulate their needs, share their experiences and provide feedback on what works in practice and what does not.
🔵 The data collected will be passed on to the researcher for analysis and evaluation, in order to draw up specific recommendations for future improvements. These recommendations will be incorporated into the development of the app, ensuring that it becomes a targeted and usable tool for promoting mutual understanding and resolving family conflicts.
📌 The focus group cycle was carried out over the period 1 January 2026 – 30 January 2026 (12 sessions in total); our objective has been achieved; we have gathered feedback from 200 participants to ensure the app is based on real needs and provides meaningful support where it is most needed.
