🤝 🇱🇻 For several months now, there have been calls in the public sphere to reduce support for civil society. The Latvian Civic Alliance advocates that state budget funding for programmes supporting civil society should be increased. In the current geopolitical climate, civil society’s preparedness for crises and the resilience of communities are crucial.
The Latvian Civic Alliance has compiled examples of projects implemented with state budget support and administered by the Society Integration Fund.
✨ Thanks to funding from the NGO Fund, the association ‘Laiks Jauniešiem’ is developing 15 sustainable youth initiatives in Valmiera Municipality, Bauska Municipality and Riga between 2025 and 2026.
The project includes:
🔸 Training for young leaders,
🔸 Implementation of youth initiatives,
🔸 Volunteering and a mentoring programme,
🔸 Launch, establishment and strengthening of the association’s branches.
🎯 The aim of the project is to involve active young people in community building, equipping them with new skills, encouraging them in their work and promoting the involvement of as many young people as possible in non-formal activities, so that they can spend their free time meaningfully. At the same time, with the project’s support, the association not only supports young people’s personal development but also fosters sustainable cooperation between various organisations and local communities.
The project helps to develop the organisation’s activities step by step and to promote high-quality youth work within the association’s area of operation.
