✍️ 🏻 The memorandum has already been signed by three political parties, and in the near future we plan to sign it with other parties and party alliances that are prepared to cooperate in strengthening youth policy.
🔵 The memorandum of cooperation concluded by the association “Laiks Jauniešiem” is not an endorsement of any party and does not imply adherence to its ideology, pre-election programme or stance on other issues.
🧩 The essence of the memorandum is quite specific – to ensure that young people’s needs and views are heard not only before the elections, but also afterwards. The memorandum calls on political parties to include youth policy issues in their programmes and priorities, to establish regular dialogue with young people and youth organisations, and to evaluate initiatives that improve opportunities for youth participation, education, employment and civic engagement.
🙏 For its part, the association undertakes to put forward proposals on youth policy issues, organise discussions, give young people the opportunity to express their views, and ensure non-politicised, fact-based representation of young people’s interests.
🔵 We are prepared to sign such a memorandum with all political parties and coalitions of political parties that wish to engage in an open, democratic and respectful dialogue on issues of importance to young people. All parties are offered the same principles of cooperation – we do not discriminate as to which parties may or may not listen to young people. At the same time, the memorandum provides for cooperation based on democratic values and the defence of young people’s interests.
➡️ Signing the memorandum is not a call to vote for a specific political party, nor is it political advertising or the association’s endorsement of a party. It is a call for the party to take responsibility for incorporating youth policy issues into its work. Nor does the memorandum entail any financial obligations.
👌 The association’s aim is to ensure that young people’s voices reach all policy-makers, not just those whose views one personally agrees with. Dialogue does not imply agreement. It means the opportunity to ask questions, demand action and, after the elections, remind them of the commitments they have made, which are based on a safe, free and democratic country.
❗️ Our position is clear – the association “Laiks Jauniešiem” does not support any specific political party. We represent the interests of young people and wish to strengthen youth policy in Latvia, regardless of which political forces are represented in the Saeima after the elections.
“The project was implemented with funding from the state budget under the Ministry of Education and Science’s National Youth Policy Programme for 2025–2027”.
