Great news!

May 22, 2026

💯 The association “Laiks Jauniešiem” has had its project application approved in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ 2026 grant scheme “Support for development cooperation projects in beneficiary countries designated by the Republic of Latvia”.

✨️ We are truly delighted and grateful that our project “Young People for Sustainable Participation – a Latvian–Georgian cooperation network and a digital learning model for understanding the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDG Connect Georgia)’ has been evaluated and received funding for implementation in 2026.

🤩 The main objective of the project is to strengthen cooperation between the youth sectors of Latvia and Georgia, to promote understanding of the UN Sustainable Development Goals, and to create a digital, youth-friendly learning model on civic participation, democratic principles and sustainable development. The project’s primary target group will be representatives of the Georgian youth sector, youth leaders and representatives of civil society organisations who work with young people on a daily basis or involve them in community activities. Particular attention will also be paid to representatives from Georgia’s regions, ethnic minority communities and young people with fewer opportunities.

🎯 As part of the project, a digital, game-based learning model adapted to the Georgian context will be developed on the UN Sustainable Development Goals and civic participation, as well as a complementary card game on the principles of sustainability and democracy. Seven representatives from the youth sector in Georgia and seven from Latvia will be involved; they will take part in training sessions in Latvia, collaborative workshops and experience-sharing sessions, so that they can subsequently apply the approach they have learnt when working with young people in their own communities. At the end of the project, at least 5 digital training sessions are planned for young people from Latvia and Georgia, reaching at least 40 participants.

✍️ 🏻 This year, 54 project applications were received for the call for proposals, and the total funding available for 2026 is up to 744,805 euros. We are delighted to be among the organisations awarded funding to implement development cooperation projects.

👆 Thank you to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for its trust and for the opportunity to continue strengthening cooperation between Latvia and Georgia – together with young people, partners and the conviction that sustainable change begins with knowledge, participation and cooperation.
