Today, completely false information is being circulated in the public sphere, claiming that the political party alliance “SUVERĒNĀ VARA / UNION OF NEW LATVIANS’ is part of the Family Day event ‘Creative Together – Strong Together!’.
This is not true.
Representatives of the aforementioned political group were not participants, partners or organisers of the event, and political campaigning on the event premises was not coordinated with us and was not permitted.
Political campaigning took place outside the venue of our event, and we find it unacceptable to suggest that this particular political party was part of the event we organised.
The association “Laiks Jauniešiem” is a non-political organisation. We cooperate and engage in dialogue with various political forces on issues affecting young people and youth policy, but this does not imply support for any specific party or political force.
We consider the dissemination of such misleading information and the attempt to link our event to a specific political force to be absolutely unacceptable and improper behaviour.
We urge everyone to critically evaluate the information appearing in the public sphere, to check the facts and not to allow themselves to be misled.
In October, each of us will have the opportunity to make our own choice. Let us do so thoughtfully, based on facts rather than disinformation.

P.S. What’s the story about? A coalition of political parties turned up at the event venue – handing out balloons; after being told off, they left, only to later post a blatantly misleading message on social media claiming they were part of the event.
