🗣 We and other professionals who work with young people on a daily basis or promote their active involvement shared various tools and approaches to participation. For our part, we spoke about social media as one form of participation that helps to engage more young people, gives them the opportunity to be heard and fosters an inclusive dialogue.
💡 It was very valuable to hear various examples of how young people can get involved in different settings and how adults can support them in this process.
🎯 One conclusion from the research presented at the conference seemed particularly significant – alongside a lack of time and a loss of interest, one of the main reasons for young people’s lack of engagement is anxiety and shyness. This reaffirms just how important it is for youth workers to focus on creating safe, supportive and accessible environments.
