From 7 to 16 June, a six-person delegation from the organisation “Laiks Jauniešiem” took part in the Erasmus+ youth exchange project “Back to the roots” in Orymlia, Greece.

June 18, 2025

During the project participants had a seven-day opportunity to engage in various educational and creative activities focused on learning and reviving traditional games, songs, dance and craft skills. Awareness of the importance of cultural heritage and mutual cooperation between actors from different countries was promoted. Young people not only remembered and survived their childhood through traditional games, but also learned the cultures and traditions of Spain, Bulgaria and Greece.

An important part of the project was to get to know the local Greek people's life stories, getting a deeper understanding of the region's cultural and everyday life. Latvian young people were actively involved in the exchange of intercultural experience, teaching traditional Latvian games and games to Greek children.

The project identified limited use of digital technologies, especially mobile devices, to promote quality communication and personal engagement. It created an environment in which participants were able to participate fully in activities, to strengthen communication and to build closer friendships.

The participants share their thoughts that the project contributed significantly to young people's personal growth, cultural awareness and understanding of the importance of traditional values in modern society.

√ Thank you to the Greek organisation √You in Europe for your cooperation and opportunity!
