🇮🇹 ✨ 😍 Florence welcomed us with its history, culture and inspiring energy, but the true value of the project lay in the people and the conversations. “Laiks Jauniešiem” was represented on this Erasmus+ Study Visit by three youth leaders and/or youth workers, and these days were filled with both learning and a genuine exchange of experiences.
💯 We visited several organisations that shared practical examples of how to include different social groups, how to work with young people in different contexts, and how to build cooperation between countries. At the same time, we delved into the world of Erasmus+ KA2 projects – we discussed their significance and structure, and in small groups we brainstormed ideas for potential activities and future partnerships. And, of course, amidst all the work, we also found time to explore Florence and get a ‘taste’ of Italian culture.

💬 Elinda:
“The biggest benefit of this project was hearing about other countries’ experiences and realising that, comparatively speaking, we’re in a better situation in Latvia; in this way, we learnt to appreciate the opportunities we have at home. We visited several organisations that shared their experiences of successfully integrating different groups within society. We learnt about the Erasmus+ KA2 project and, in groups, planned potential project activities and opportunities for collaboration. We also went on excursions and got to know Italian culture.”
💬 Daniela:
“A truly wonderful experience with fun and engaging people. I learnt a lot about the challenges and approaches of organisations in other countries. I learnt about Erasmus+ KA2 projects, their significance, and gained a little insight into how to write them.”
💬 Ainārs:
“During the project, we got to know representatives from other countries. We gained an insight into their areas of work and learnt that a highly professional and sustainable approach is used when working with young people in Latvia; this is supported at national level and funding is allocated as standard, whereas in Italy the situation is quite different – it is carried out solely within the framework of projects.”
🎯 Experiences like this really ‘recalibrate’ your thinking: you realise what is already working well for us in Latvia, and at the same time see what else we can take on board – ideas, methods, contacts and the courage to forge greater collaborations.
