❤️ This was our third year at the “Skola” exhibition, and we are truly delighted that so many young people, teachers and parents visited the “Laiks Jauniešiem” stand this year.
📌 Over the past few days, we have been actively promoting the opportunities offered by Eurodesk Latvia – Erasmus+, the European Solidarity Corps, volunteering, opportunities for young people in Latvia, as well as non-formal education activities that genuinely help to develop well-rounded personalities.
👀 Of course, there was also an area where you could relax, play large-scale games and take part in the “YOUTH ARE OUR PRESENT” merchandise prize draw by completing a simple task.
✅ This year’s exhibition attracted a huge number of visitors – and we really felt this at our stand too: lots of questions, lots of interest and genuine engagement on the spot.
Over the course of three days:
💙 200+ people joined our WhatsApp group;
💙 400+ started following us on social media;
💙 1,500+ leaflets were handed out.
🙌 In addition, countless people right there on the spot expressed a willingness to take part in activities and get involved in voluntary work – with feedback and opportunities to follow up in the near future.
💡 The second day was particularly productive, with workshops and discussions taking place throughout the day on issues facing schools and civic participation. In the second half of the day, there was a discussion with:
💙 the Agency for International Youth Programmes (Nils Mosejonoks);
💙 The Riga Pupils’ Council (Ernests Mikuts);
💙 a researcher and sociologist (Gints Klāsons);
💙 Representatives from “Laiks Jauniešiem” (Gints and Elīza).
✍️ On this day, we received the views of around 150 young people (both positive and very negative – regarding opportunities and problems at school), plus insights from experts – we’ll be publishing a review and a summary of the findings from the workshops within the week.
🙏 This year, Cēsis State Grammar School also spent two days with us, which organised debates with Riga State Gymnasium No. 1 and Sigulda State Gymnasium, giving visitors the chance to watch and take part in a mock debate.
👌 And finally – a heartfelt thank you to the team: more than 20 people who saw the event through all three days and ensured that everything ran smoothly, both in our neighbourhood and during the activities. Thanks also to our mascots Laikijs and Remi, and to the 360 video team, who delighted participants with some brilliant videos!
✨ Thank you for being with us. Young people really are our present – and you showed that very clearly over these past few days.
