🙌🏻 On this occasion, the “Laiks Jauniešiem” association visited the Aleksejs Grāvītis Liepna Primary School, where we spoke with the pupils about participation and its importance in everyday life. During the session, we ran a simulation called “The Path to Decision-Making”, in which pupils had the opportunity to take on different roles and gain a better understanding of differing viewpoints, responsibility and the decision-making process. We also analysed together the opportunities for participation at school, in the local council, in Latvia and in the European Union, and came up with ideas for improving our own community.
🎯 Following the civic participation sessions, we also held a focus group discussion with the school’s student council on opportunities for voluntary work. Together, we discussed why volunteering is important for young people’s development and what benefits it can bring later in life. We also shared stories from our own experiences, whilst strengthening the student council team through various activities.
