INVITE ‘Time for Young People’ TO YOUR EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTION FOR THE NEW ACADEMIC YEAR

August 20, 2026

✨️ What do pupils take away from a good lesson? Not just new knowledge, but also the conviction that their views matter and that everyone can play a part in bringing about change.

✍️ 🏻 The association “LAIKS JAUNIEŠIEM” invites your educational institution to implement civic participation lessons in the 2026/2027 academic year as part of the VIAA-approved project “STEM and civic participation activities for a broader educational experience and career choices”.

🙌🏻 During the lessons, pupils do not just listen, but take an active part: they collaborate, make decisions, role-play real-life situations, defend their views and come up with practical ideas for improving their class, school or community.

💫 In the 2026/2027 academic year, we are offering nine programmes for five age groups.

🔵 For pre-school:

1. “ME, YOU, US TOGETHER!” (2025/1/STEM/PL/151) – community, cooperation and respect.

🔵 Years 1–3:

1. “ME, YOU, US – A COMMUNITY!” (2025/1/STEM/PL/405) – belonging to the class, school, family and town;

2. “TIME FOR CO-OPERATION IN THE CLASSROOM” (2025/3/PL/132) – a friendly class, empathy and joint decision-making.

🔵 For Years 4–6:

1. “ME, YOU, US IN OUR COMMUNITY” (2025/1/STEM/PL/406) – the pupil’s role and influence on class and school life;

2. “WE – INCLUSIVE CO-OPERATION” (2025/3/PL/137) – inclusion, fair co-operation and mutual agreement.

🔵 For Years 7–9:

1. “ME, YOU, US – WE PARTICIPATE!” (2025/1/STEM/PL/407) – opportunities for participation at school, in the local authority, in Latvia and in the European Union;

2. “WE – WORKING TOGETHER IN THE COMMUNITY” (2025/3/PL/141) – social roles, cooperation and conflict resolution.

🔵 For Years 10–12:

1. “ME, YOU, US – TOGETHER WE BRING ABOUT CHANGE!” (2025/1/STEM/PL/408) – mechanisms for participation, debates, elections and influencing decisions;

2. “TOGETHER – WE HEAR AND LISTEN!” (2025/3/PL/146) – active listening, values and respectful dialogue.

➡️ How do we organise the sessions?

🔵 We work with up to 30 pupils in a single class or group;

🔵 Each class is led by 1–2 facilitators;

🔵 Our team consists of 8 facilitators;

🔵 We can run sessions for up to 3–4 groups at the same time, so it is possible to involve several classes in a single day;

🤗 We use discussions, cooperative games, role-play and simulation exercises, debates, brainstorming and reflection.

🔴 We have 7 years’ experience of working with children and young people using non-formal education methods. As part of this project, we have run more than 170 sessions to date, reaching over 7,500 children and young people. We have received feedback from 164 teachers, and overall satisfaction with the sessions exceeds 95 per cent.

✍️ 🏻 As the teachers write:

“Free, relaxed communication and the facilitators’ ability to engage all the pupils.”

🧩 The cost of our activities within the project is 10 EUR per pupil. The educational institution receives a grant based on the number of pupils, but payments are made in accordance with the procedures set by your institution or local authority.
