Project Objective
To promote closer cooperation between Ukrainian civilians and Latvian society through various
activities that will foster intergenerational dialogue, cultural exchange and mutual understanding.
Project Target Group
Ukrainian civilians in Latvia who wish to actively engage with and integrate into Latvian society, as well as representatives of Latvian
society who wish to promote the inclusion of and understanding towards Ukrainian civilians.
Main Activities
- Board game evenings and a cultural evening at the social care centre in Vecbebri, attended by both Ukrainian
civilians and representatives of Latvian society; - A football match dedicated to Ukraine between FC RFS and Grobiņa SC/LFS, featuring cultural and creative activities;
Activities with the Riga Ukrainian Secondary School, which will include mock elections, teamwork,
communication skills, learning the Latvian language and studying history – the Leadership Academy for Ukrainian
Youth – Latvia; - A joint celebration of Līgo and Jāņi, which will involve Ukrainians in exploring Latvian festive traditions;
- A major clean-up at the charity warehouse of the association “Laiks jauniešiem”, which will be tidied,
refurbished and spruced up through joint efforts. - A talent competition for children and young people: “Youth Has Talent”.
Expected Project Outcomes
- Increased understanding among Ukrainian civilians of Latvia’s public administration, culture, history and traditions;
- Promoted intercultural understanding and cooperation between Ukrainian civilians and Latvian society;
- Improved equal opportunities for Ukrainian civilians to integrate into Latvian society;
- Increased mutual understanding and improved dialogue between Ukrainian civilians and Latvian society;
- Knowledge has been expanded and greater interest in cultural opportunities for young people has been sparked.
