Project Objective
The aim of the project is to promote critical thinking, meaningful participation and mutual cooperation among young people in Georgia and Latvia, thereby strengthening civil society and supporting democratic values. The project activities are designed to foster a deeper understanding of democracy, human rights and sustainable development, whilst developing skills for active participation and the dissemination of information within society.
Project Target Group
The main target group is young people aged between 15 and 19, with a particular focus on representatives of less engaged groups, such as young people at social risk — those with learning, communication or social inclusion difficulties. This group often faces a lack of information on issues of global development and democracy, as well as limited opportunities to express their views and participate in public life.
Key Activities
- Development of a board game on democracy and the UN Sustainable Development Goals
- Experience-sharing and training event (3 days)
- Activities to disseminate the results and the board game
Expected Project Outcomes
In this project, we plan to work with specific target groups in Latvia and Georgia to promote young people’s critical understanding of and participation in democratic processes. The Georgian partner organisation – the non-governmental organisation Youth for Democracy (YFD) – will be actively involved in the project. YFD is a dynamic and goal-oriented community of young people, established with a clear vision to enable young people to become active citizens capable of bringing about positive change in their society
The “GearUP” project is implemented with the financial support of the European Union. Laiks Jauniešiem is responsible for the content of the “Laiks Attīstības sadarbībai” project, and this does not necessarily reflect the views of the European Union.
