Project Objective
The aim of the project is to promote cooperation and interaction between young people and older people, creating an environment in which they can share experiences and learn from one another. We aim to strengthen social engagement and cohesion within the community by offering activities that will reduce social isolation and encourage the exchange of skills and knowledge. We aim to stimulate creativity and self-expression, as well as to promote an understanding of culture and history. Throughout the project, we will endeavour to build sustainable relationships so that our joint efforts continue to have a positive impact even after the project has ended.
Project Target Group
The main target groups are young people aged between 15 and 25 and older people aged over 65 who live in social care centres in the Bauska region. It is expected that approximately 50–100 people from each group will take part, creating a continuous flow of interaction and participation. Young people in this age group are active and keen to take part in social projects, whilst older people are those who often feel isolated and lonely and have limited opportunities to take part in social activities.
Main Activities
- Creative workshops
- Nature exploration activities
- Poetry evening
- Joint preparations for celebrations
Expected Project Outcomes
The project will help reduce social isolation amongst older people by creating opportunities for active participation in community life and promoting their emotional wellbeing. Young people will develop social skills, empathy and the ability to work in groups, whilst older participants will have the opportunity to share their knowledge and experience, enriching the young people’s understanding of life. Project activities, such as creative workshops and cultural evenings, will stimulate creativity, allowing participants to express themselves in various ways. The project will foster long-term relationships between young people and older adults, ensuring continued cooperation and support even after the project has ended. Both young people and older people will derive joy and fulfilment from the shared activities, which will foster positive emotions and life satisfaction.
