Project Objective
The aim of the project is to promote young people’s understanding of participation, its significance and the various opportunities for participation. The project will place particular emphasis on promoting the participation of young people with fewer opportunities, ensuring that at least 50 per cent of project participants are young people with fewer opportunities. During the project, there will be active promotion of dialogue between young people and decision-makers, the exchange of best practice experiences amongst young people in different regions of Latvia, the implementation of youth initiatives, as well as the dissemination of positive stories of experience, so that, in line with the ‘youth-to-youth’ principle, various forms of participation are made engaging and interesting for young people. The aim of the project is to promote young people’s personal development, their understanding of their role in society, and the particularly those with fewer opportunities, in local communities and on a wider scale.
Project Target Group
In total, the project plans to involve at least 350 participants aged between 13 and 30, including at least 180 with fewer opportunities. The project envisages a wide range of activities – four experience-sharing trips to the regions, a ‘stories of participation’ evening, an ideas-development hackathon, youth initiative activities with decision-makers, the preparation of proposals for decision-makers, regular project team meetings to ensure the high quality of the project’s implementation, video production activities, as well as a large-scale closing conference. Significant attention will be paid to the dissemination, preparation and evaluation of results, including the use of Youthpass, to ensure awareness of the results and the successful delivery of the project.

Expected Project Outcomes
The project will promote the development of a more inclusive society and the inclusion of young people with limited opportunities by ensuring their participation in all project activities. It will raise awareness amongst participants and the wider public of the importance of participation, as participants work together on all activities and by creating social media posts about opportunities for young people to get involved. During the project, a meaningful dialogue between young people and decision-makers will take place, involving at least 30 decision-makers from various regions in the project’s activities, as well as disseminating information about the dialogue to their peers to raise awareness among other young people and the wider public of its significance. There will be an exchange of good practice between four regions – Zemgale, Vidzeme, Kurzeme and Latgale. We are convinced that the project will greatly promote the importance of youth participation and help ensure that young people, particularly those with fewer opportunities, are recognised as an essential part of society.
YOUNG PEOPLE ARE OUR PRESENT!
