At the beginning of April, Elīza and Katrīna had a great opportunity to visit our friends Visiomenės are the verslo plėtros institutions, which organized ERASMUS+ Youth a mobility activity for workers called "Meant to be," where participants learned more about volunteering, motivation, characteristics of different ages, support or so-called mentoring and other important skills.
These trainings included participants from different European countries - Greece, Spain, Italy, Latvia, Slovenia, Lithuania - with different work experience in each country, but share a common goal: to understand how to be a real mentor in volunteering. Not a leader, not an instructor, but a man who guides, supports and believes others even when he does not believe in himself.
In six days of intense, lively and deep reflection, participants heard not only about theory or methodology.
What does volunteering really mean and how does it change over time?
How can you recognize a young man's fear, distrust, and sometimes a quiet request to be heard?
What is the balance of mentoring boundaries between intimacy and responsibility?
